One day I hope to be someone else’s motivation 😁

Storytime. So I think this was my senior year in college..

So if you don’t know my story, I lost about 30 lbs my freshman year of college (it was easy because 1. i had no friends so i spent my time in the gym and 2. cafeteria food was either salad bar or french fries so I had salad for EVERY MEAL)

Anyway, I held it up for a while, eventually plateauing senior year, got broken up with in a bad way and felt really terrible and lost confidence and gained some back (now i’ve gained a lot more) but at the time of senior year I gain about maybe 20 back.

After I graduated I went back to my old stomping grounds and went to a bar with my friends. Then this girl that I had freshman orientation with came up to me. Note we haven’t spoken since freshman year and now I had graduated. I think we follow on social media but we don’t interact. She comes up to me and I notice she looks thinner. And she’s like “OMG– girl you’re my inspiration. I followed your story and it motivated me to lose weight”

I literally never thought any one cared about what I did but it was such a good feeling. I wish I could keep her in my pocket for days i need motivation.

I want to feel good again. I want to be the “after” picture again. I want to feel confident and comfortable in my own skin. I want to be able to go into a store and not worry if they have clothing that will fit me.

eclosesweight weight loss fitness journey

Transformation Tuesday!
For those of you who may remember.. About a year ago I decided enough was enough and that I would get fit. This is about 25ish pounds difference. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and but the battle isn’t over yet. I still want to lose about 10-15 more pounds (or see where my body is at around 165 lbs) and I want my body to be toned. I have to admit the holidays set me back a bit and this picture is a little old (because we all know how christmas food is). But I still have some time to work on my bikini body. (Last summer was the first time I ever wore one in public) and I want to feel confident and comfortable in one. Even through the pictures you can see how I’ve grown from covering my body to not really giving a fuck. I’m proud of my body and the things it can do now. I’m not an expert but if any of you made a resolution and need help sticking to it I am here to help. We can be fitness buddies! You CAN do it. Progress takes time and do not give up. Check out my blog page “weight loss adventure” too.

Hi i just stumbled upon the weight loss adventure that you've embarked on through your blog. I want to lose weight, as you are. I am confident with who i am/ I just feel like losing weight will make me feel more comfortable in my body and give me positive health benefits in the long run. I was just wondering how you do it? Ive tried to start but it just doesnt work. what is your routine? how long did it take you to lose 20 lbs? what diet and excercise do you recommend?

I was the same way. I wasn’t comfortable and was always self conscious and now i’ve found myself worrying less and less about my body, but i still want to look good too (so close to a bikini) ;)

So here is what i’ve been up to…

My family has always been trying to lose weight so i knew about what foods to eat and not eat (whole grains, low sodium, veggies – that’s what i focus on) Try and cut small stuff out of your diet first (diet is more important than exercise, and together they are great) Start by cutting out sugary drinks and replace them with water (i never liked pop so this was easy for me) try to drink 8 glasses a day and it will help with the hunger too! Cut sugar and refined sugars like white bread and pasta–use whole grain instead. I got a MyFitnessPal which is an app that helps you count calories and track exercise and it was really helpful. It’s easy to use at home because you just scan a barcode and all of the nutrition is there! This really helps you realize what exactly you are eating.

I’m at college now, so I pretty much have 24/7 access to a huge gym and that was super helpful for me. I started out going to the gym everyday or at least 5 days a week. I went on tumblr and found workouts that i liked (because i don’t like working out.. ew i will never do a burpee). Today I do more weight training. I started out using 5lbs dumbbells with some easy workouts i liked. After 15-20min i would do cardio. FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE! (running, elliptical, body weight exercises, biking, swimming, zumba, blogilates…) I like running, so i run almost everyday. I also walk at a 15% incline when i don’t feel like running because it burns just about the same amount of calories. If you’re just beginning do this in intervals (2min run, 2min incline walk, 1 walk).. using intervals really helps burn more calories–it keeps your muscles from “getting bored.” Another way to do this is switch machines every 15min or so rather than just going on the elliptical for an hour.

I found that this whole process left me happier (exercise gives you endorphins!) and feeling better about myself. My skin is clearer too! Now that I’ve lost a majority of the weight i wanted to lose i spend more time doing weights and toning my body (1hr) and will to 15-30min of cardio after. It took me about 4 months give or take to lose the weight. Generally you lose 1-2 pounds a week so plan your goals accordingly. Also, 3500 calories = 1lb .. so burn this much/diet restriction* a week and you’ll lose a pound

*what i mean is that a person your height/weight should eat X cal, and say you cut out 500 a day, then you add that to your 3500 for the week (i don’t think i explained that well) don’t cut calories extremely..limiting yourself to 200 cal a day is BAD, this is super counterproductive. you should at least have 1200 calories each day..

I hope that helped. I think I covered everything. GOOD LUCK! if you need anything else let me know! i have pages saved that i can point you to if you would like.. Also check out my page it’s kind of like a journal i kept. Also funeralformyfat has a lot of good tips too! The most important thing is stick to your word! Since i wrote that post i think it was a more concrete promise for me to keep especially since it was out there in the public. I also made reminders in my phone like “way to go” “did you workout today?” and “keep it up” stuff like that to keep me going ;)

eclosesweight asks good luck anon

So this is a little late, but I thought I’d still share,

Back in January I made a post about how I was going to lose weight once and for all. the journey had been hard (especially when your cafeteria serves french fries at every meal) but i still managed to lose 20lbs!

(this “after” pic is a few weeks old, but you get the idea) YOU CAN SEE MY HIP BONES! Now, according to my BMI I am officially at a NORMAL weight! I’m 6ft and I started out at 196 with a 26.6 BMI, and now I’m 176 and down to a 23.9! I don’t think I have ever been in the normal range. I still have some weight to lose and toning/ muscles to build in order to get rid of those remaining rolls, but I am so proud that I actually stuck with it this time! I have never been able to keep up with it. My family, who also struggles with weight, now look at me as inspiration and it only makes me want to push harder and keep up with my progress.

Thank you to everyone who helped me get started and gave me kind words to help me start my journey! You all are the best! isabellelightwoodxx i-like-shooting-walls you guys rock too! If anyone needs a friend to help them stay on track, or wants advice I AM ALWAYS HERE. I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist, but I have picked up a few things that have helped me and I’d love to share!

Now, onto summer! (hopefully I’m bikini ready before summer is over)
